DESCRIPTION: France, a large and extremely decorative carriage clock with grand sonnerie striking, unusual gilt Anglaise variant case with twist columns having Corinthian capitals and turned bases, the molded base and cornice with bowed sides and conforming beveled glasses, top with twist ornamented handle matching the columns, red guilloche enamel dial with convex chapter and gilt Arabic numerals, ornate pierced and chased, gilt dial mask with lily of the valley ornament, gold hands, 8 day time, strike, and alarm movement with lever platform and cut bimetallic balance, sounding grand or petit quarters in passing, and repeating the last hour and quarter on demand, serial #1304, with original leather bound box and key
CONDITION: case cleaned and lacquered, right glass with small chip at lower right, dial with short hairline at 12:00, alarm chapter numerals with losses, mask very good, hands good, movement with minor tarnish, running, striking, and repeating correctly, alarm functional, gongs lacking blue and with oxide, case with scuffing and significant losses to leather, handle missing, catch for top not working
